"Following a public health model of prevention and intervention service-delivery, which involves addressing a range of mental health problems in youth, schools can support the mental health needs of homeless youth through employing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework that involves universal, selective, and indicated service provision levels (Christner and Mennuti, 2008, Hess et al., 2012). Within this framework, universal assessment and intervention services are implemented population-wide and they aim to influence all students in a school environment. These services might involve universal screening for academic, emotional, or behavioral problems and school-wide intervention programs (e.g., Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports [PBIS], bullying prevention programs)." 3.
